Rationale for Study

Bonnie & Clyde heralded a seismic change within the Hollywood film industry. Produced when the power of the studio system - and the Hays Code - was waning, the film is a superb example of a film made for its audience. The film is considered by many to be the first film of the 'New Hollywood' era, breaking cinematic taboos and creating controversy with its portrayal of sex and violence. The film received Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best Cinematography. It was among the first 100 films selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry and is on the AFI’s list of the top ten gangster films of all time.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Without Penn there would be no Tarantino!
